Job Description

Seating Engineer Tools: CATIA V5/V6, 3DExperience, Teamcenter, Visualization Mock-up

Responsibilities

• Good understanding of system level as well as component level working.
• Knowledge of cooling system and component design requirements for seating system commodities such as seat structure, mechanism, complete seat, OB/IB valance, headrest, seat mounting brackets, etc.
• Effective communication with the customer and suppliers.
• Knowledge of material selection for different components.
• Ability to create and review parametric models using CATIA V5/DMU.
• Working knowledge of PLM systems (Team Centre).
• Ability to benchmark and provide innovative approaches for a problem.
• Ability to interact with cross-functional teams like CAE/VI Lead teams, interpret CAE results, and suggest corrective actions.
• Complete understanding of the product development cycle for a typical automotive vehicle program.
• Good understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Strong knowledge of documents DFM/DFA/DFMEA.
• Good understanding of test & validation (DVP).
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes – plastic moulding methods, casting & sheet metal.
• Strong communication skills.
• Must have good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Should be able to independently interact with customers and suppliers.
• Awareness and experience in implementing project processes.
• Ensure system, sub-system, and components meet DVA, optical, and perceived quality targets.

Skill Requirements

• Proven project management capability demonstrated by recent delivery in line with time, cost, quality & attribute targets.
• Proven and extensive experience in right first-time development and integration of at least one of the following seating system commodities: seat structure, mechanism, complete seat, OB/IB valance, headrest, seat mounting brackets, etc.
• Detailed engineering knowledge of design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements.
• Ability to manage and challenge system, sub-system, and component costs through utilization of engineering knowledge and decision-making processes.
• Excellent communication skills, with demonstrable ability to communicate with cross-functional teams and influence at all levels.
• PC Literacy: Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.
• Significant experience in the use of engineering tools - FMEA, Agile or Scrum (Six Sigma will be an added advantage).
